After selling out of the @hoo_knives V1 we have been inundated with messages and emails from people who missed out on the first production run so we wanted to put this update out to try and answer some of the most common questions we are receiving in this Q and A thread:
Q1. When will the next production run be made of the Hoo Knives V1?
A1. We are currently in talks with our manufacturer about producing a blackout version of the V1 and will update you all on a timeframe when we have more information, as for the Plain Jane version we will likely get a smaller number of around 50 along with the blackout run to try and accommodate anyone who missed out.
Q2. When will the V2 be released?
A2. Once we have handled the postage of the V1 to all our customers we will begin testing the V2 prototype and will keep you posted on any updates, due to us being a self-funded and a very small company we don’t have the capacity to run two production runs at once sadly.
Q3. Can I pre-order a V1 or V2?
A3. At this stage we will not be opening pre-orders up, this could be subject to change in the future but it’s likely we will wait until the production run is finished and landed with us before we open the doors again for purchase.
Q4. What’s the best way to find out when the next production run is available?
A4. The best way to keep up to date on when our next run will be ready is to sign up to our mailing list located on our website, alternatively, you can keep an eye on our social media pages as we always try to keep these as up to date as possible – everything posted on IG also makes its way to Facebook.
Hoo Knives is absolutely humbled by the response towards the V1 and would like to thank all our customers who put their faith and confidence in us all those months ago!
Hopefully, we will be able to accommodate everyone who wants a V1 and missed out on the first production run ASAP, we thank you for your patience.
We will continue to post updates as and when we get them to keep you all informed on the next steps.
?We are absolutely delighted to announce our new @hoo_knives V1 prototypes have landed with us and out of factory testing now begins!
Here’s a rundown of the changes that we have made:
• The double detent system has been made stronger.
• Blade play we found on the previous prototypes has been eradicated on these models.
• Centring of the blades has been completely fixed.
• The pocket clip has been updated to a titanium construction.
• The pocket clip design has been slightly altered to allow for more ease when going over heavier cloths.
• The scales now allow for the pocket clip to be left and right-handed.
• Production models will have some slight changes as well, they will feature the ® symbol next to the Hoo Knives logo and will be numbered #001–#250 as opposed to the 001# shown in the prototype here.

We also got a blackout prototype to see how the design would turn out when blacked out!

Again a huge thank you to everyone for your patience throughout the process, we are well and truly in the final stages now.
We are very pleased to let you all know that Hoo Knives has been approved as a British authorised dealer of both Civivi and We Knife.
We are hoping to have some goodies in stock within the next few months on our website shop, so keep your eyes peeled if it interests you and I would be more than happy to keep you all posted when the first stock arrives if you would like me to do so!
Along with our own unique designs, this means we can offer you a larger variety of products for your EDC – Please do not think this takes any of my focus away from getting your V1’s to you, this is our foremost priority before anything else. ?

In another major milestone for Hoo Knives, we hit 120 pre-orders for the V1. We are immensely grateful and have been blown away by the support shown for us as a new player on the scene.
Before the final approval, we will be receiving two more prototypes with a few minor changes these include a stronger double detent and ambidextrous pocket clip function.
Given we have already tested the structure and blade steel vigorously in both a factory and home/outdoor setting we are confident these small tweaks will only benefit the user more.

Yesterday marked one week since the Hoo Knives V1 prototype landed with us for testing.
Since then we have been putting the knife through its paces, testing the structure and the blade steel.
As testing has ramped up we have sliced our way through paper, cardboard, carpet, medium-density fibreboard and many vegetables, the edge is holding nicely so far, we have been posting lots of videos and pictures of the progress to our Instagram page and story.
Testing continues and the M390 steel + structure is holding up very well so far! It will be taking another beating over the next few days and we will keep you posted with more post and story updates on social media.
The cutting-edge of Hoo Knives V1 is 2.88”, ideally the blade is also under 3” from hilt to tip when the blade is deployed.
We disassembled the knife yesterday and gave it a well deserved wee clean after the week of torment it’s had to endure.
We will continue testing and keep you posted on our story and feed throughout the week.
We appreciate your patience throughout the process and hope you have enjoyed our first week of testing with the updates we have been putting out.
To give you an idea of the time frame we are currently looking at, after we complete testing and signing off on the prototypes, we will move into the production stage.
Once production is in place it will be 70 days for the knives to be made and assembled + shipping/postage to the UK and then to the customer.
Once again I would like to thank you all for your continued patience and support throughout the process it’s been humbling, to say the least. ?
