At Hoo Knives, we maintain a strict policy to ensure that only individuals aged 18 or older can purchase pocket knives and other age-restricted products, in full accordance with UK law. As of April 2022, it has become a legal offence to deliver bladed items to residential addresses in the UK without verifying the recipient’s age. We have always required age verification for every knife sale, and that will never change. However, what has changed is the legal requirement that a knife must now be delivered directly to an adult, rather than being left unattended, with a neighbour, or in a safe place.
What This Means for You:
All knife orders placed through Hoo Knives will continue to be age-verified at checkout. To comply with the law, your delivery must now be signed for by an adult at your chosen address. The parcel cannot be left unattended.
We work with trusted delivery partners that offer Age-Verified Delivery services. Your delivery will be fully tracked and must be signed for by an adult at your address. Additionally, the parcel will be clearly marked with a legal notice indicating that it contains a bladed item.
Under UK law, parcels containing knives or bladed items must be clearly marked to indicate that they are age-restricted. This helps ensure that the delivery driver is alerted that the parcel requires age verification upon delivery and must not be handed to anyone under 18 or left unattended. Along with the age-verification marking on our postage labels, we use additional indicators to ensure compliance.

This update supports our commitment to responsible knife ownership and compliance with UK law. We want to ensure that everyone who purchases a knife is of the legal age, and that the delivery process aligns with the law to prevent underage sales.
Age Verification Process:
- At the point of sale, we use reputable third-party services to verify the purchaser’s age.
- At the time of delivery, the recipient must present valid photo ID to confirm they are 18 or older.
Personal Data Handling:
- Customers’ personal data will be processed by AgeChecked Ltd solely for age verification purposes.
- The personal data will not be retained by AgeChecked Ltd after verification is complete.
We reserve the right to request valid proof of age at checkout and/or before dispatching any age-restricted products. If proof of age is not provided when requested, we will cancel the order in compliance with our legal obligations.
