Blackout V1s all posted & updates made!

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are pleased to say the Blackout Hoo Knives V1s landed and everyone who pre-ordered one has now had their order processed and posted.

We still have a limited number of Blackout V1s available to purchase if you would like one. We have made some updates to the Blackout V1s and these are specified below.

We have taken the liberty of making some changes we feel will aid your Hoo Knives V1 user experience. These changes do apply to the new Blackout V1s, call it the V1.1 if you will!

The illustration in the above images is some of the changes made.

• Firstly, we have updated the double detent system to make it even more sturdy, safe and secure for you to use with confidence.

• Second, we have updated the pocket clip to ensure it’s more user friendly, this includes updating it so all V1s come with a firmer stainless steel pocket clip as standard > we have also updated the inside clip slot to make it a more secure fit for your clip.

• Finally, we have added steel where the bearing use to meet the scales to avoid direct wear and tear on the titanium scales from the bearings.

We are confident these updates will be a pleasant addition to your new V1 and will aid in help keeping your fingers and your V1 safe.

Kindest regards,

Hoo Knives.

Hoo Knives V1 production is running ahead of schedule

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are pleased to say we are currently running ahead of schedule for our production time on the Hoo Knives V1 Blackout.

We wanted to take this time to share with you some minor updates we have made to the design to improve it for users and keep the design unquestionably within the boundaries of being a UK friendly EDC.

As many of you will be aware, the British government recently updated Knife Law guidelines on its website.

Where it used to read that the ‘cutting edge must be no longer than 3’ has been amended to say ‘blade less than 3 inches long’ while this can still be interpreted as being the cutting edge of the blade and no changes have been made to the law, to remain on the side of caution and to refrain from any potential near-future issues regarding blade size, the blade size of the Blackout V1 has been marginally updated to be entirely under 3”.

We have had multiple people say they would love a V1 but because they are very cautious about the law they would only carry a blade under 3” in total.

We feel the change will not negatively impact the design with it being so fractional, it will, however, put many’s minds at ease.

In the images shown above is an uncompleted blackout V1 without our logos or an edge on the blade to give you an indication of the current production stage.

After listening to V1 users feedback, the pocket clip on the blackout has also been amended to a more sturdy stainless steel version.

Further to pocket clip changes, we have requested that all the V1s be sent with a paper/plastic stopper under the pocket clip to avoid any potential clip rub on the scales before users get their hands on them, this is, of course, meant to be removed once it arrives with the user.

We look forward to the blackout V1s landing with us and getting them out to our customers.

You can click below to Pre-Order: https://hooknives.com/product/hoo-knives-v1-blackout

Further to our Blackout V1 updates, we know many of you are looking forward to the return of the original plain jane V1, we currently have 50 of these in production due to be completed and sent to us at the same time as the Blackout V1s.

We will not be taking Pre-Orders for these given it’s not a new product in our line but instead, we will be opening orders for them once they land with us.

Along with this, we should be receiving stainless steel pocket clips that will be made available for purchase for those who would like to change the current titanium pocket clip on their first production run V1s.

To keep you fully up to date we plan to continue our updates on the website, social media and via email.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a pre-order, the product will not be sent to you until productions completion and the products land with us for dispatch. We expect the batch of Blackout V1s will be ready for dispatch sometime in March of 2022, however, we are airing on the side of caution and asking customers not to expect their Blackout V1s until April 2022.

If you are interested in pre-ordering you can follow our link by clicking here.

We thank you greatly for your continued support and patience, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

Kindest regards,

Hoo Knives.

V1 SOLD OUT – What’s next?

After selling out of the @hoo_knives V1 we have been inundated with messages and emails from people who missed out on the first production run so we wanted to put this update out to try and answer some of the most common questions we are receiving in this Q and A thread:

Q1. When will the next production run be made of the Hoo Knives V1?

A1. We are currently in talks with our manufacturer about producing a blackout version of the V1 and will update you all on a timeframe when we have more information, as for the Plain Jane version we will likely get a smaller number of around 50 along with the blackout run to try and accommodate anyone who missed out.

Q2. When will the V2 be released?

A2. Once we have handled the postage of the V1 to all our customers we will begin testing the V2 prototype and will keep you posted on any updates, due to us being a self-funded and a very small company we don’t have the capacity to run two production runs at once sadly.

Q3. Can I pre-order a V1 or V2?

A3. At this stage we will not be opening pre-orders up, this could be subject to change in the future but it’s likely we will wait until the production run is finished and landed with us before we open the doors again for purchase.

Q4. What’s the best way to find out when the next production run is available?

A4. The best way to keep up to date on when our next run will be ready is to sign up to our mailing list located on our website, alternatively, you can keep an eye on our social media pages as we always try to keep these as up to date as possible – everything posted on IG also makes its way to Facebook.

Hoo Knives is absolutely humbled by the response towards the V1 and would like to thank all our customers who put their faith and confidence in us all those months ago!

Hopefully, we will be able to accommodate everyone who wants a V1 and missed out on the first production run ASAP, we thank you for your patience.

We will continue to post updates as and when we get them to keep you all informed on the next steps.

Kindest regards,

Hoo Knives.

?Hoo Knives V1 – The New Prototypes have been Completed!

?We are absolutely delighted to announce our new @hoo_knives V1 prototypes have landed with us and out of factory testing now begins!

Here’s a rundown of the changes that we have made:

• The double detent system has been made stronger.

• Blade play we found on the previous prototypes has been eradicated on these models.

• Centring of the blades has been completely fixed.

• The pocket clip has been updated to a titanium construction.

• The pocket clip design has been slightly altered to allow for more ease when going over heavier cloths.

• The scales now allow for the pocket clip to be left and right-handed.

• Production models will have some slight changes as well, they will feature the ® symbol next to the Hoo Knives logo and will be numbered #001–#250 as opposed to the 001# shown in the prototype here.

We also got a blackout prototype to see how the design would turn out when blacked out!

We are very pleased with the changes that have been made and will continue to keep you all posted throughout the testing phase.

Again a huge thank you to everyone for your patience throughout the process, we are well and truly in the final stages now.

Hoo Knives V2? Prototyping Has Begun!

We are very pleased to announce that we have now started the prototyping stage for our second design.

Before starting the process we added a sharpening choil and deep carry ambidextrous pocket clip to the design.

One of the key features of this design is a completely removable and adjustable thumb stud to allow for the user to carry their way.

Titanium scales and pocket clip with an S35VN blade is the current configuration we will be taking to the prototype stage.

Unlike the Hoo Knives V1, the back-spacer of this design is not integrated into the scales to allow for potential customisation.

A major thank you to everyone who has shown their support or interest in our designs.

Don’t worry this will not impact the production of our Hoo Knives V1 and we are still on schedule.

Stay posted for more updates to come and possibly a few surprises along the way.

Kindest regards,

Hoo Knives.
